Poetry — A memory from my childhood dipped in honey
Golden summer days
Memories running together like honey
Sweet melting heat of long hours stretching
Satin sheen of blue sky puffed with clouds
Three young girls
Their heads bobbing about in the garden
Words like hummingbirds darting about
Tinkling laughter coalescing in the afternoon sun
Spicy sweet wild thyme
Crushed by our eager fingers
Floating in hot water like lily pads in a pond
A mysterious and refreshing elixir
Looking for faeries
With wild thyme thrumming in our veins
We peer under every rock and around every leaf
For a glimpse of translucent wing or pointed ear
Without disappointment
We bid goodbye to the sunbeam garden
Knowing there is more than meets the eye
Nestled amidst the whispering leaves and flowers
