poetry — what if we all had a city inside of us? where we get lost amongst clouds and jellyfish while finding answers and new pathways

a deserted walkway
less than the fling of an eyelash away
darkness inked in at every corner
as though an artist couldn’t bare to leave any spot blank

I feel like a city whose spires tantalize the clouds
a skyline of curves and hopes and dream
determination is a mountainous ridge
while discouragement looms like a bruised sky

a sooty powder-puff darkness
where my needs lounge against a lamppost
slinking around like a cat
mewling in the night, crazy for my acknowledgement

aren’t we all microcosms of civilizations
aching for discovery?
lost sunken cities deep beneath sapphire waves
populated by playful fish
or floating towns with sky trains and herons
lazily skimming fields of grass and flowers

I journey within my own city
and nestle in the forgotten nooks
chatting with ghosts in oversized wardrobes
and reciting my…
